Are you looking to elevate your story so that it resonates on deeper emotional levels with an audience? Films like Citizen Kane stay with us in ways that go beyond plot, character and theme.

Many extraordinary films use a powerful literary device called Objective Correlative—a theory which can be challenging to grasp but when understood can empower the storyteller and can have particularly interesting use in cinema beyond literary use. Many memorable stories consciously or unconsciously use the device and knowing how it works is a wonderful tool in the storytellers’ workshop. 

Filmmaker Kevin T. Morales will help you understand the concept and its various uses through breaking down its appearance in films. By the end of the presentation and discussion, you will be able to evaluate the use of objects and setting in your own story to emotionally affect the audience, avoid cliche and strengthen your character’s journey.
