Idea Machine: Finding New Stories to Write

Idea Machine: Finding New Stories to Write from Pipeline Artists - Symposium on Vimeo.

Hello ... It's me again—your blank-white screen staring back at you on page one, title "TBD." An empty space. Perfectly reflecting the amount of great ideas echoing inside your head right now.

So, how do we change that? Maybe start here:

Award-winning author and filmmaker Bryan Young will teach a number of techniques on how to quickly generate ideas for stories and put them through a litmus test until you find one concept (or a few) worth your blood, sweat, and tears. We'll cover how to come up with ideas to pitch or write on spec, and how to decide what type of media an idea should be written for. Practicality for the creative designed to help you beat writer's block and meet your writing deadlines.

Even if you have no problems coming up with great stories, there's something new to be learned when approaching idea-creation.

The presentation will cover:

  • How to turn a bland idea into a stellar one
  • Brainstorming techniques that work
  • Determine which medium is best suited for your ideas
  • Techniques to recharge your creativity
