Many of us have a story (or two, or ten, or hundred) to tell. But how do we craft that story into a compelling memoir for a wide audience? Answer: With great difficulty. But the work will be worth it!

Author Anthony Chin-Quee will draw on his experience writing his memoir, I Can’t Save You, to provide you with the tips, tricks, knowledge of common pitfalls, and motivation to write your story in a unique, compelling manner, and share it with the world!

In this session we will:

  • Find the why: Why does your story matter personally AND commercially?
  • Discuss the importance of using small stories to build a larger story.
  • Hone in on the importance of honesty, however raw and dirty it is.
  • Find ways to create characters out of the people we’ve known, loved, and hated.
  • Consider how narrative structure can support your story.
  • Dive into how to find an agent and write a successful query letter.
  • Q&A

He has done multiple performances for The Moth, where he’s won their local Story Slam, placed as a runner-up in the Detroit Grand Slam, and performed on their NYC, London and Chicago […]
